Why Having Holy Family Hospital at The Karachi Christmas Market Truly Mattered
When we first decided to have Holy Family Hospital set up a free medical camp at, The Karachi Christmas Market, many people asked, “What does a medical camp have to do with a Christmas celebration?” I understood the question, but I also knew exactly why I wanted them there.
Almost every family in Karachi has some connection with Holy Family Hospital. Someone we know — or someone in our own home — was born there or treated there. This hospital has quietly served our city for decades. Having them at the market was my way of highlighting the good work they do and the heart behind it. And honestly, they proved exactly why they belonged.
Young doctors, young leadership — and real compassion
Dr.Glenis D’Souza, Administrator, Holy Family Hospital, Karachi, and her team are young, energetic, and incredibly dedicated. The doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff checked so many visitors throughout the day, B.P., sugar, and basic consultations were all free for all. They brought medicines, offered proper advice, and treated everyone with genuine care. With the season full of back-to-back events, it made me realise how important a setup like this is. Anything can happen: someone’s BP can rise, someone can feel dizzy, or simply get exhausted from walking around. A few visitors did need quick help, and Holy Family was right there.
Making events truly inclusive
One thing this experience taught me is how important a medical camp is for our elders and family members who are not feeling their best. They shouldn’t have to stay home just because of health concerns. When you know there is proper medical staff available, you feel comfortable bringing your parents, grandparents, or anyone who needs a little extra support. In case of an emergency, help is immediate. It makes the event more inclusive and ensures no one is left behind.
For future events, I will make sure we continue this. Along with celebrating, we are becoming more responsible hosts. And especially for something like the Karachi Christmas Market — which is meant for the whole community, every person should feel safe attending.

Why we must support Holy Family Hospital
Hospitals like Holy Family can only continue this kind of brilliant, community-focused work if we support them. They don’t just show up; they bring their doctors, equipment, medicines, and give their time. For them to keep serving Karachi this way, we should donate and help however we can. It’s our way of giving back to an institution that has quietly helped so many of us for years.
A decision I am grateful for
I’m truly happy we included Holy Family Hospital. They didn’t just “fit in”, they added real value. They reminded us that care and celebration can go together, and that a strong community looks out for one another.
