The 2025 Iftar Guide – Karachi Edition
The greatest thing about the food scene in Karachi is the diversity, not just in terms of flavour but also the price range. And the neighbourhoods, don’t even get me started on those – seafood in Keamari, Bohri food at Lighthouse, and just about everything under the sun at Hussainabad ( but that’s a different listicle).
75DH – Rs 500 plus tax
I am a fan of their burgers, so this deal sounds DAMN GOOD. Four burgers (although not full sized), nuggets, fries and a drink – could easily feed two people to be honest!
McDonalds – Rs 550 plus tax
Two Spicy McCrispy burgers, medium fries and two lemon mint Sprite drinks for Rs 1075 exclusive of tax. It’s great for when you’re in a rush and need to pick something up. Or if you’re feeding a large group of teenagers. Be warned, the fries just aren’t enough.
KFC – Rs 600 plus tax
Delivering tough competition to Mickey Dees, we have the Colonel who’s offering 3 Zingers, 8 Wings (why can’t they just make it 9?), a bucket of fries and 3 drinks for Rs 1790 plus tax. I think this is a solid dinner meal without the need for a refill later in the evening.
Nandos – Rs 1300 plus tax
And if it’s chicken you want, Nando’s has some great deals for duos and groups dining together. I’m pretty sweet on Nandos so this is definitely one I’ll be going for.
Cafeela – Rs 2700 plus tax
Absolutely love the gourmet home style cuisine by Cafeela, and this buffet is a great way to try many of their dishes. The menu isn’t as extensive as you would find at other buffets, but it is great value and the food tastes great. The menu changes daily, so be sure to check what’s on offer and make a reservation. Oh also, bank discounts apply too.
Chatterbox Cafe – Rs 3000 plus tax
They’re offering a set meal with an Iftar plate, and a main course that you can choose from a list of eight and a trio of desserts. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like great value compared to Cafeela but there’s something comforting about Chatterbox with it’s old school pastas, rice bowls and sandwiches. So maybe for old time’s sake?
Cocochan – Rs 3000 plus tax
Generally a fan of Cocochan, although some outlets are better than others. The all-you-can-eat buffet is very well priced, and the flavours and refills are totally worth it. The only downside is that there’s no cold drink at all. There is tea, though. I’m down if I can take my own water bottle!
The Patio – Rs 5000 plus tax
They have a strange mix of a buffet and an ala carte. There’s an iftar buffet for Rs 3000 plus tax – which is really poor value, because it’s standard desi iftar fare with the odd margarita flat bread and some mezze. Most of it is also vegetarian. You can add in one main course (from a list) for an Iftar plus dinner that costs Rs 5000.
