SOLANGE KNOWLES- SOLANGE PRESENTS SOL-ANGEL & THE HADLEY STREET DREAMS
Now of days when you purchase an album from female R&B singers you sometimes know what to expect, but that is not the case with Solange, I must say after listening to this whole album I was really really impressed. Solange is a student of music, you can tell she has respect and love for the classic R&B genre such as Motown, a little Staxx, and a little British influence, she takes these groovy uptempo, happy beats and belts out some incredible songs, for example track #2 entitled T.O.N.Y is smooth trip with a smooth groove, track #5 her latest single “Sandcastle Disco” is definetly the star song of the album she says “I know you do this to all the girls, you know that I’m fragile..ohh.uhh.ohh.uhh..ah..hoo, ba-ba-ba-baby don’t blow me away” this song will somewhat remind you of Ande’ 3000′s “Hey-Ya” , but I must say my favorite track on the album is the smash hit “I Decided” track #6 the jam of summer 2008, if you think Solange is anything like her sister Beyonc’e, then think again, they both have soul, and strong voices, but Solange has a style unlike no other.

RAPHAEL SAADIQ-THE WAY I SEE IT
Remember the first time you heard the song “Hey Little Walter”, do you remember asking yourself who is that? The group was Toni, Tony, Tone’ and that famous voice you first heard on that track was the voice of Raphael Saadiq, his voice stood out from the rest, a sweet kind of happy soulful sound, now imagine that voice over Motown style like songs, that’s “The Way I See It” and hear it. Mr. Saadiq has shown that he is a student of soul music and he too also understands his soulful gift that the music gods have given him. Rapheal starts off his latest album with the sweet “Sure Hope you Mean it”, then track #2 slips into a Smokey Robinson (esque) feel with the track “100 Yard Dash” he even kept it at a short but sweet 2:18, the first single to be released is track # 6 entitled “Love that Girl”, a trip down memory lane with that funky 60′s bassline feel and ontime back up vocals.
The rest of the album has a straight out of the 60′s feel to it, we have been begging and pleading with R&B artist to recapture the soul, well are prayers have been finally answered with this album from Raphael Saadiq, on a scale of 1-4 shot glasses we give it……
