Micheal Jackson takes his place with the Greats……
……..those are the thoughts that are going through my mind right now,I know everyone is in shock, some in dis-belief, maybe even some in denial, we all have our personal memories of Micheal Jackson, I will share mine with you……..I am fortunate to have worked as a radio disc-jockey,I got to host my own tribute show to Micheal Jackson last year, and I re-call that it was my most popular and favorite show to date (the post is still up on this site)……spending 3 hours on a Saturday afternoon just playing and talking about Micheal and his music, his accomplishments, his awards, etc….and sharing memories and hearing stories from the listeners…..it was a magical day, it really was……there is something special about his music that has touched so many and if you happen to be around my age then you realize most of his music shaped our child-hoods, so in a way you kind of feel that you have lost a friend even though I never meet him, I sure spent alot of time listening to what he had to say and watching him move across my t.v screen…..I am so glad I took the time to expose his music and videos to my 9 year old daughter, she actually said to me (after watching his videos) “I get it, I get why you guys like him, he is really cool” …. I was shocked and happy at the same time when she said that, her favorite song was”The Girl is Mine”….I thought to myself wow I wasn’t expecting that to be her favorite, don’t get me wrong I love the song also, but I was expecting her to say Billie Jean or Thriller or even P.Y.T, but she also turned out to like ABC and Rockin Robin….(kids will always surprise you)…..my favorite song is “Off the Wall”……..When the world is on your shoulders Gotta straighten up your act and Boogie down, I f you can’t hang with the feelin’ then there ain’t no room for you this part of town “Cause we’re the party people night and day Livin crazy that’s the only way………So tonight gotta leave that 9-5 up on the shelf and just enjoy yourself, Groove, let the madness and the music get to you Life ain’t so bad at all……..If you live it off the wall………Words to live by that is my Friday song, I play that when I need that little extra boost, or I wanna feel good…….

Okay does anyone with any Urban credentials work for the Snickers marketing team……..I saw a billboard in Kent,Wa this weekend that said ……..”Sling some rocks at Chockoliath”………ok I get the throw rocks at Goliath thing, but sling some rocks……don’t they know that is street slang for selling crack…….and this Billboard was not in the best of neighborhoods……I wish I had my camera that day.

10 Things I learned about Shalamar!!
Finally the TV One special about the group Shalamar aired, and I have to say I learned some interesting things about the group……..
10. Shalamar started off with just having session singers from LA
9.They went through a phase where they were known as just a Disco group
8.Howard Hewitt was the 3rd lead singer, eventually there would be a 4th
7.Jeffery Daniels created the Backslide (AKA the Moonwalk)
6.Howard Hewitt & Jody Watley just never really hit it off, Jody felt disrespected most of the time
5.Shalamar was huge overseas, actually sold out Wembely Stadium in the U.K.
4.Howard Hewett had a huge ego
3.Jeffery Daniels and Jody Watley actually dated
2.Jody Watley felt pressure from the group to not have her first child
1.There will probably never be a Shalamar re-union

Toast 2 Shalamar!!

U.L.O Thank You Letter III

Robert Guillaume
………sometimes in life you have to say thank you to the people who help capture and cultivate your imagination….
Dear Mr. Guillaume,
I must say when it comes to acting I feel that you are one of the best, you have entertained millions with you’re classic distinguished acting style, the old re-runs of Soap and Benson still make us laugh(especially when you’re on the screen) to this very day. The movie Lean on Me and The Lion King were truly two of your most memorable roles for me when it came to movies. I will never forget your role as Isacc Jaffee in “Sports Tonight” it was brilliant and gutsy, your singing voice strong and powerful was dynamic in ” Phantom of the Opera”, your portfolio of work and your invaluable lessons of courage should always be recognized by future artist.

Toast to Mr. Guillaume
